Western Ukraine, on the eve of a carnival with deep roots in popular tradition. Pamfir returns to his family after several months away. The love that binds them is so unconditional that when their only son starts a fire in a parish hall, Pamfir has no choice but to reconnect with his turbulent past to make amends for his son's mistake. The experience will lead him down a risky path with irreversible consequences.
